My Thoughts on...

FlipSun

File this under things you probably did not know about the sun. Astronomers report that its magnetic field is about to flip — meaning that there will be a "complete field reversal" in between three to four months, an event that typically takes place every 11 years. If this sounds like the utter malarkey that precedes an alien invasion (Roland Emmerich, are you taking notes for the "ID4" sequel?), we agree. But it's also a scientific fact. This won't affect us very much: Electrical fluctuations around the sun, which will increase in intensity due to the swap, can create "stormy space weather around our planet." But as long as you're not venturing out past the troposphere, you'll be fine. [Source]
